There will be an annual intake into the academy. The first intake of thirty cadets will be in January 2017.
Young men and ladies aged 17 – 20 years of age may apply for admission. Most of the training will take place over weekends and during college holidays. The program will be strictly applied and will be based on military disciplinary principles.
Graduation will be during December each year, following a training regimen of fifteen modules over the twelve-month period. An applicant needs to understand beforehand there will be very little time for anything over the training period other than attending to course content.
If a candidate falls out of the program there will not be another appointment made in the place vacated by such an incumbent.
Graduates will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Division on completion of their evaluation.
